omeone once said: “If God called you to be a missionary, don’t stoop to be a king.” Charles Spurgeon.

Last week I spent three days at the Portuguese Advisorymeetings at the North American Division office in Maryland, USA. There are approximately forty Portuguese speaking pastors in the NAD of which 95% were present, and I was very glad to hear that the focus of the meetings was on Missions.

I know, when you hear the term Missions, you automatically think of some place very far away to which you are going to be asked to contribute with some sizable donation. But what if I tell you that you don’t have to think that way if you only understood the real meaning of what Missions are!

Let me share with you a bit of history: “Christianity once established was its own best missionary. It grew naturally from within. It attracted people by its very presence. It was a light shinning in darkness and illuminating the darkness. And while there were no professional missionaries devoting their whole life to this specific work, every congregation was a missionary society, and every Christian believer a missionary, inflamed by the love of Christ to convert his fellow men.”

Now, the reality check; if we are asked to this wonderful and awesome Mission of God shared with His church here on earth, in order to reach every person in our sphere so that they can be part of His wonderful Kingdom, what do you think your job description is going to be when you reach that Kingdom? Yes, that’s right, you guessed it, it will continue with those who have never tasted the pitiful results of a sinful lifestyle such as we have. They need to know what that was like, which helps provide God with the assurance that sin will never rear its ugly head again.

So, as you can see, our involvement is imperative to God’s Mission to bring salvation to His creation, they don’t need salvation, but we do, and our involvement in Mission is a demonstration that we understand heaven’s goals for humanity.

We are almost 8 billion people on the planet today, and according to the Population Reference Bureau, every minute 101 people in the world die, and 261 people are born. I know God will do something about this, because we could never keep up with these statistics.

So, what else am I going to do? What I may be doing right now?

Remember, a missionary is; one who knows, and tells others who don’t know.
