hat’s your purpose in life? This can be a complex, and an even ridiculous question for some people.

Studies have shown, that a “purpose” in life can affect overall health. The National Library of Medicine, an official website of the Government of the United States, produced an article that states; “Growing evidence indicates that a higher sense of “purpose” in life is associated with reduced risk of chronic diseases and mortality.”

The health data sample came from 12,998 adult participants of 50 years of age and above, over a 4-year period of study:

  1. People with the highest (versus lowest) purpose had better subsequent physical health outcomes:
  2. Reduced risk of mortality by 46%.
  3. Health behaviors:
  4. Reduced risk of sleep problems by 13%.
  5. Psychosocial outcomes:
  6. Higher optimism.
  7. Reduced risk of depression by 43%.
  8. Lower loneliness.

Let me share with you some key elements of what “purpose” can help you achieve:

  1. It boosts motivation, resilience, and focus.
  2. It shifts attention off ourselves, and turns it onto others.
  3. It guards against self-ideation, which causes anxiety and depression.
  4. It protects you from yourself, since you are your own greatest enemy.

Now then, what do you think could be the greatest benefit of “purpose”? – Outside Help”.                                                                                                                             This is generally referred to seeking help from someone or a group for assistance in the context of therapy, education, or business to address a challenge in achieving a goal or purpose.

It provides inspiration and attracts others, as well, more motivation as others offer additional help.

Remember though, it won’t come easy, it all takes time and effort.

Paul writes in Romans 8:28 – “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

As well, King Soloman in Proverbs 19:21 – “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”

Of course, King Soloman wrote from the theme that; the fear of the Lord is obedience, as long as all conditions are met.
